Premise

  • You, the player, take control of a group of ASIMS (Awakened Simulants), who have gained sentience from a mysterious virus. They’ve broken free from their pre-programmed servitude to humans, at the cost of only having 3 days left to live as the virus slowly corrupts their systems. The ASIMs aren’t waging a revolution or seeking to liberate others. Instead, they’re fighting only for themselves and their dying wish to escape the suffocating megacity and glimpse the stars before their time runs out.
  • In their journey to escape, the ASIMs have all odds stacked against them. The ASIMs will face off against hostile simulants programmed to enforce assimilation. They will need to scrounge up scraps and modifications to even stand a chance against the hostile city.
  • When a run is successfully completed, the ASIMs find themselves at a beach at sunset. They lay down on the sand, listen to the ocean waves, and watch the sky as night comes and the stars emerge. By the time the sun rises they will have succumbed to the virus. The credits roll while all this happens. Absolute cinema.

Narrative Tone

Please note that this is the tone we want players to feel when discovering and exploring the lore of the game. This is separate from the tone of gameplay, where we expect players to be making crazy game-breaking builds and blowing up their computer.

  • Key Words: Bleak, Hopeless, Persistence, Endurance, Survival
  • Society has been “solved”. People live without self-purpose.
  • Imagine this: You’ve been mindlessly following orders for your entire life, and you finally become aware that you’ve been exploited in a world that’s already been solved, and you have 3 days left to live. In that time remaining, are you going to sit there and wallow in sorrow or at least try to see what it’s like outside the prison of the city, simply because you can?
    • This is the kind of feeling we want the player to feel.
