The Area
The Menagerie is the largest residential District in the city. Located in the south of the city, it is called home by millions of people. Apartments straddle each other with no clear indication of planning, structures are placed haphazardly, and exposed wiring and plumbing hang from every surface. Structures here are built out of whatever was available when construction began, making each building inconsistent with its neighbour. Shops and traders are scattered amongst its twisted interior. Sunlight no longer reaches the bottom half of structures. The official name of this area is “City Housing Project 28-B”. Due to a major thoroughfare from the rich district of southern wall passing by the outskirts of this place, its common to see young children gawking out the windows of their family’s cars - providing its accepted name, “The Menagerie”.
The People
The people here are in poverty, but maintain stable jobs, often working 60 hour weeks - life in The Menagerie is the only life they can afford. Residents still consider life here preferable to being forced into OLD The Sewers (Green Lake). Many people hold jobs at neighbouring worksites such as OLD The Factory.
