The IRIS program created the virus by imitating the core functionalities of other existing viruses. It was used as a mock virus for system testing. After IRIS was shut down, the virus was thought to be deleted, but it had merely gone dormant. It was later found to be profound in current system as a more lethal common viruses spreading throughout the city.
